Job Description

If you are an experienced Ophthalmic Assistant who enjoys working within a small team to deliver excellent patient-centred care, this is the role for you!

As the Ophthalmic Assistant within this recently established practice located in Spring Hill, your role is a vital component in the delivery of patient service excellence. This will commence as casual position approximately 2 shifts per week (may increase as needed, on negotiation or be permanent part time for the right person)

By working closely with our doctors and the rest of the clinical team, you contribute to the success of the practice by providing a high level of clinical support to enable patient care and perpetuate the five star experience our patients deserve.

You will display a warm and affable demeanour, immaculate presentation and a high level of professionalism. Time-management, attention to detail, a positive attitude and maturity will be critical for you to be successful in your position.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
– Clinic preparation including scan and consulting room setup
– Starting Forum (Zeiss software) orders for scan protocols
– Injection room set up
– Meeting patients to provide overview of appointment process
– Building patient rapport
– Performing baseline testing as required
– Performing scans and taking images on specialist equipment with accuracy and efficiency
– Providing tea, coffee or water to patients to keep them comfortable
– Stocking consultation and procedure rooms
– Ad hoc administrative tasks to enable patient care

Essential Criteria:
-1-2 years + Ophthalmic assisting experience; or currently studying the Master of Optometry; or Retail Optical experience in taking scans – HFA, OCT etc.
– Saturday availability when necessary (½ or ¼ possible)
– Professionalism and clear communication
– High attention detail and ability to produce high quality work product
– Excellent patient service including empathy and ability to keep calm
– Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical practice
– Willingness to learn and work in a close knit tea
