Orthoptist / Ophthalmic Assistant

Sydwest Eye Specialists, an established practice of 21 years are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic Orthoptist (experience helpful but not essential) to join our team. We will provide extensive training on the job. The practice is located in Cabramatta with onsite staff parking.

Employment type: Full time although part time can be negotiated.

The position is to commence immediately upon successful application.

Remuneration: Above award rate with end of year incentivised bonuses.

The practice comprise of 3 ophthalmologists and provide comprehensive ophthalmology including:
• cataract, glaucoma & anterior segment surgery.
• Comprehensive medical retina service
• Paediatrics & general ophthalmology.
We are fully equipped with Cirrus OCT, Optos widefield imaging, Pentacam AXL, FFA, Humphrey visual field, Corneal topography, IOL master.
The practice is modern and fully computerized. We provide regular in-house staff training, staff well being social functions and sponsor orthoptists to attend external courses.

Duties will include:
– Patient history / VA
– Subjective refraction
– IOP /IOL Master/ Humphrey Visual field testing
– OCT scanning
– Retinal imaging / Fluorescein angiography with Optos widefield
– Instrument sterilization
– Patient counselling and consent
– Assisting with intravitreal injection and minor operations

Ability to speak a secondary Asian language will be helpful but not essential.
