Triage Orthoptist

Vision Eye Institute Eastern (Box Hill) is a dynamic ophthalmology practice specialising in medical retina, as well as vitreo-retinal disease and surgery. We are dedicated to providing excellent patient care in ophthalmology, and pride ourselves in the training and investment of staff. We are currently seeking a motivated, professional person who is keen to acquire new specialised skills, or to consolidate upon their existing experience.

This is a unique position where triaging will be one of the primary roles for the orthoptist, along with potentially some consulting duties. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a diverse range of duties including:

–          Providing primary assessment of referrals through phone, fax, email to assess urgency

–          Interpretation of OCT/fundus images

–          Liaising with referrers and patients on clinical matters

–          Administrative duties

To meet the fast paced requirements of this position you will need to have had at least 3 years orthoptic experience,  a high level of energy and enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.  Attention to detail is essential.
