Full-time Orthoptist position at Bendigo Eye Clinic

Background:

Bendigo Eye Clinic is a comprehensive, fast paced ophthalmology practice that has been providing professional eye care services in Bendigo and greater Central Regional Victoria regions for over 27 years. Our clinic provides services for a range of general ophthalmological conditions including cataract, medical retina, glaucoma, paediatrics, ocular motility and oculoplastics.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated orthoptist to join our team of five ophthalmologists, orthoptists and medical receptionists. The role is offered as a permanent full-time position, starting mid- September 2021 (negotiable)

Main duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Preliminary work up and orthoptic assessments
  Perform ocular diagnostic tests: Visual Fields, OCT, fundus photography, Atlas topography, FFA, biometry (IOL Master and contact ultrasound)
• Ocular motility and paediatric vision assessments
• Intraocular lens calculations
• Assist in minor procedures, injections, etc
• Other admin duties: assist with patient reception, appointment bookings, phone calls, finalise accounts, etc
• Travel with ophthalmologists to consult in one of our outreach clinics in Echuca, Kyabram, Castlemaine, Swan Hill and Woodend.

Requirements:

The applicant will need to have tertiary qualification in Orthoptics as well as the following:
– Excellent communication skills, customer service and patient care
– Strong organisational and time management skills
– Punctuality, reliability and competency in clinical skills
– Flexibility in working hours between 7.30-18.00 (Mon-Fri) dependent on our ophthalmologists’ schedules
– Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy, fast-paced environment
– Ability to work well in a team and autonomously

The position will be subject to a six-month probationary period. Salary will be according to VIC Orthoptics award.
