Orthoptist (Experienced or Recent Graduate)

We are seeking an enthusiastic part-time orthoptist, 2 days per week, for a busy small practice in Malvern to assist our 2 Ophthalmologists.

Clinic Specialties include:

• Cataract assessment and treatment
• Glaucoma Management
• Medical Retina
• Paediatrics and Strabismus
• General Ophthalmology

Orthoptist responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• General ophthalmic assessments including history taking, subjective refraction, vertometry, IOP measurement
• Ocular motility and binocular vision assessment of both children and adults
• OCT (Spectralis)
• Humphrey Visual Field Testing
• Biometry (IOL Master 700)
• Setting up and assisting with minor surgical procedures including intravitreal injections
• Some administration duties including surgical preparation
• Answering patient enquiries

Position requirements:

• An Orthoptics qualification
• Professional Indemnity Insurance
• registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board (AOB)
• current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
• Effective time management, priority management and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal skills
• Experience in ocular motility and paediatric vision assessment will be highly regarded; however an interest and willingness to learn these skills will certainly be taken into consideration

Training can be provided on equipment as required.
