Job Description

Looking to take your career to the next level? We are offering a unique opportunity for an ambitious self-starter who is keen to stamp their mark on a successful Wanaka practice.

We are offering a full-time (or part-time, up to you!) permanent position in our busy, growing practice.

Working with our dynamite team to grow this business will be a high priority. As the business grows, an opportunity will exist for part ownership or profit share.

A positive attitude and high energy levels are essential. We are looking for an honest and hard-working individual with a passion for success; one who is coachable, punctual and has an exemplary work ethic.

A background in subspecialty (contact lenses, paediatrics, neuro-optometry) would be helpful, but not essential. Support and training will be provided, if needed.

Why work with OCULA?

At OCULA, not only do we say that our people are our priority, we walk the talk. OCULA is an award-winning business, not just for professional services, but also prides itself on being nominated for Employer of the Year at the local Chamber of Commerce Awards.

We will learn your goals, both personal and professional, and work together with you to achieve them.

Because our mission to be known as an employer of choice, and our values of team work and relationships is what shapes our daily MO, you can know that you will love to come to work. Sound too good to be true? Come down and meet our team, we’ll have a coffee, show you around and you can experience for yourself the OCULA way.

OCULA offers full-scope optometry services, including contact lenses (RGPs, orthoK, keratoconus management), paediatrics (binocular vision, behavioural optometry, vision therapy), dry eye (including IPL) and neuro-optometry (concussion).

But don’t let this intimidate you if you are not versed in any of these areas. OCULA is well set up to be able to guide you through learning more in an area that appeals to you. Joining our clinical team means being a part of a supportive network of clinicians, including sub-specialist optometrists, a vision therapist and an orthoptist, in a fully-equipped clinic with all the equipment, tools, support and training you will need to excel.

What skills will you need?

Be an optometrist who is keen to pursue excellence in their career
Be a team player who values relationships with their colleagues
Have excellent communicational skills
Have excellent problem solving skills and be able to think laterally
The ability to be calm under pressure
Be organised and able to create a steady flow work environment on a daily basis
What qualifications and experience will you need?

This role would best suit an optometrist with at least 3 years experience.

The role will require you to be therapeutically-qualified. The role would also require you to either be confident in, or prepared to learn a subspecialty interest.
