We have a unique opportunity within our Medical Division for a dynamic clinical professional to join our team in either Adelaide or Melbourne. As a Clinical Application Specialist, you will primarily be responsible for the technical and clinical training support of our VisuMax 500, VISUMAX 800, Mel 80/90, including associated software programs, existing customer installation base & new installations. In addition, the role will support sales activities to secure business initiated by the Refractive Business Development Manager (BDM).

The key responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

• Provide thorough in-service training to each customer and user of our products
• Conduct customer-oriented lectures and support KOL’s by providing input for their presentations
• Identify, develop and maintain KOL’s for key products
• Develop plans with BDM to leverage KOL’s in order to support a profound shift towards adoption of ZEISS technologies by their colleagues
• Support REF BDM in securing key sales opportunities
• Select support of strategically important demonstrations, approved by REF BDM
• Maintain regular presence in ophthalmology market in order to obtain customer input about new procedures, technologies and trends and to support strengthening our relationships
• Inform customers of the availability of our service and maintenance programs
• Closely liaise with Service Department to ensure customer problems are solved as quickly as possible
• Support strategic demonstrations as approved by the Ref BDM
• Consistent interstate and New Zealand travel requirements, including weekends
• Attend conferences, exhibitions and events

The key skills required for this role:

• University degree preferred
• Preferable allied health professional ie orthoptist, optometrist, clinical nurse
• A minimum of 3 years prior experience in clinical and surgical training on refractive laser platforms; both excimer and femtosecond preferred
• Very strong clinical & surgical knowledge of ophthalmology, with particular strengths in refractive
• Very strong knowledge of practice workflows, patient management and practice business management
• Excellent teaching, motivation and team building capabilities in order to teach and translate refractive clinical/surgical knowledge and marketing messages to customers
• Continuous learning orientation, keeping abreast of new and emerging technologies & markets
• Well-developed analytical, diagnostics and problem resolution skills
• Ability to gain respect through technical & clinical expertise
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
