We have a part-time Orthoptist position available for an Orthoptist at our friendly clinic in Mornington, working for a Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon and an Anterior Segment Specialist.

You will need to be well-presented and friendly, with excellent communication skills and demonstrate an exceptional attention to detail.  You will need to have a strong ability to work as part of a team and interpersonal skills such as flexibility and adaptability.

The right candidate will also need a tertiary qualification in Orthoptics, and to have at least four years Orthoptist practice behind them; to be highly computer literate and able to work quickly and effectively in a busy environment and under pressure. You will also need to be punctual and organised.

Duties will include:

– Assisting practitioners with triage

– Standard ophthalmic and medical history taking and patient work-up;

– Giving patients information about their disease and treatments;

– Screening for the need for laser treatment (YAG and retinal);

– Subjective refraction;

– OCT scanning and OCT angiography (although training will be given with the latter if necessary);

– Photography and autofluorescence imaging

– A-scanning, biometry and anterior segment work up;

– Visual field testing;

– Assisting with intravitreal injections and minor ops

– Assisting with Lens Calculations for Surgery and with Lens Orders.

– Assisting with Collagen Cross-Linking

– Assisting in post-operative care of patients.
