Job Description

An experienced Orthoptist is required for a busy South-Eastern ophthalmology practice.

We have an exciting opportunity for an orthoptist to join our growing clinic. We are looking for highly motivated professionals who believe they can make a difference to peoples lives through care and compassion.

Applications are sought from orthoptists and/or ophthalmic assistants who wish to further develop their clinical skills and be recognised for their outstanding customer service and meaningful contribution to our community.

We are considering casual/part time/full time applicants, depending on skillset match.

KEY CLINICAL SKILLS

Candidates must be proficient in all clinical areas including (but not limited to) the use of the following clinical equipment:

  • OCT (Heidelberg preferred)
  • OPTOS photography
  • Ascan (both optical and ultrasound)
  • VFT

QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Ideal candidates will not only possess the hard clinical skills but also soft skills including:

  • Focus on patient experience and customer service.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Thorough consultations and note taking in a busy clinic environment.
  • Work autonomously whilst meeting the demanding needs of a busy clinic with time constraints.
  • Able to problem solve and think outside the square to get results.
  • Able to develop deep relationships with stakeholders and collaborate with the broader team, promoting open communication and cohesion.
  • Be pro-active and willing to learn.
  • MUST be registered with AOB (if an orthoptist)
  • A second language would be an advantage, but not essential.
  • Experience at other ophthalmology clinics will be considered favourably.
