Experienced orthoptist, optometrist, ophthalmic nurse

Small but busy ophthalmology practice with a longstanding history serving the Brisbane area. The ideal candidate is an orthoptist, optometrist, or ophthalmic nurse with experience in an ophthalmology clinic. This position commences from 5 January 2023. The position is for one day per week, a Thursday. 3 out of 4 per month is a morning clinic (5 hours) and 1 out of 4 is an afternoon clinic (5 hours). Being available to cover other staff for leave is advantageous.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES:

Clinical Responsibilities

• Initial clinical assessment and work up of patients
• Use of diagnostic imaging equipment including Visual Field Analyser, IOL Master, OCT, OPTOS
• Assist doctor with minor procedures (injections, chalazions)
• Efficiently managing the flow of patients/clinic
• Clinical stock management
• Attend to patient needs
• Cleaning and restocking of clinical areas

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Required Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, customer service skills and the ability to prioritise while handling multiple tasks is required.
• High attention to detail and data entry
• Ability to work with a diverse client base
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment, both autonomously and as part of a team.
• Degree in orthoptics, optometry or nursing
• Experience in an ophthalmology environment
• Experience with medical software such as Best Practice VIP, Genie or similar.
