Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated orthoptist or clinical optometrist to join our friendly team at Clarity Eye Surgeons in Canberra (www.clarityeyesurgeons.com.au). The principal ophthalmologist is Dr Parth Shah (www.drparthshah.com.au/parth-shah/). We are a small but growing private ophthalmology clinic, working together to deliver excellent and professional care to our patients.

This role has an immediate start date and offers excellent remuneration, depending on experience. The work hours are flexible, between 8am-5pm weekdays, with potential for part-time or close to full-time work (if desired). You will be part of a growing practice with supportive staff.

Full training and support will be provided to the right candidate.

Applicants should have:

  • Orthoptics, optometry, nursing or health sciences degree
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

Duties include:

  • Preliminary assessment of adult and paediatric patients including visual acuity assessment, history taking and ancillary tests
  • Instillation of eyedrops in adults and children/infants
  • Conducting eye imaging and computerised visual tests for patients
  • Assistance with minor procedures
  • Optimise patient flow throughout the clinic
  • Assess and manage patients independently (e.g. clinical optometrist with therapeutics qualification)
  • Maintain medical stock supply and manage sterile store
  • Assist the Ophthalmologist in patient education, research and professional education sessions
  • Attending to clinical enquiries from referrers and patients
  • Assisting with administrative and reception duties as required
