The Bass Coast Eye Centre is a reputable healthcare facility dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and advancing medical services in Wonthaggi. Located within spitting distance to some of the most beautiful beaches in Victoria, the Bass coast eye center prides itself in delivering comprehensive and personalized eye care to the Gippsland Community. As part of our expanding team, we are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthoptist to join our growing organization.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented Orthoptist to provide excellent eye care services to our patients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving visual health and will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating visual disorders. You will work closely with our team of friendly ophthalmologists, orthoptist and reception staff who specialize in Glaucoma, cataracts, medical retina and general ophthalmology.

Key responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive ophthalmic evaluations
Assisting with minor procedures, including intraocular injections
Operating diagnostic equipment including the Zeiss Humphrey Visual Fields Machine, Nidek OCT, Lenstart A-scan, Oculus Pentacam, Visucam 500 retinal photographer and the Lenstart A-scan.
Interpreting diagnostic tests, including visual field exams and ocular imaging.
Collaborate with ophthalmologists to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
Providing education and support to patients and their families about their conditions and recommended treatments.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, and progress.

Prior experience with these responsibilities would be favored, however full training will be provided for the right candidate- new grads are encouraged to apply!

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Orthoptics or a related field.
Certification or registration as an Orthoptist.
