Northern Sydney Cataract is a modern boutique ophthalmic practice on the Lower North Shore. Our Ophthalmologists are well-respected, ethical and caring leaders in the field. We specialise in a broad range of subspecialties: cataract surgery, surgical and medical retina, oculoplastic surgery, glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology. We are independently owned and operated. Our main priority is providing patient care of the highest quality.

We are seeking part time orthoptist to join us. We currently have 3 full time orthoptists and 1 part time ophthalmic assistant. You will be providing support for 6 consulting Ophthalmic Surgeons.

Essential criteria:

You must be a team player with excellent communication skills and possess the ability to be proactive and to work autonomously in a busy environment. You must have strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism are key in being successful in this role.

The position involves vision assessment, history taking and the following tests:

• Humphrey visual field
• Heidelberg OCT
• Optos ultra-widefield imaging
• IOL Master 700
• Corneal specular microscopy
• Pentacam corneal topography

The role involves assisting with intravitreal injections and minor procedures.
Apart from clinical duties, the successful applicant should be comfortable with administrative duties including working at the reception desk, patient bookings, organising theatre lists, and medical correspondence dispatch.

This role requires someone to work approx 24 hours per week. The hours and days can be flexible and the successful candidate will be able fit in with the other orthoptic staff to fill the required clinic hours.
