Orthoptist

Seeking an orthoptist to work at our eye clinic on a regular 0.5 FTE part-time basis. We are a modern ophthalmology practice with the latest equipment located at Epworth Eastern’s Consulting Suites in Box Hill.

The team is made up of 3 Ophthalmologists Dr Jonathan Kam, Dr Nicholas Cheng and Dr William Tao and 2 regular orthoptists, as well as reception staff.

We are known for delivering great up-to-date healthcare to our patients and being highly committed to patient outcomes. Our orthoptists will get to know their patients over time and feel valued by their patients.

Qualifications & experience

Tertiary qualification in Orthoptics essential
Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in clinical work desirable although we would consider applications from upcoming graduates.

Tasks & responsibilities

Provide high quality standards of patient care
Thorough orthoptic assessment
Work across all the specialties within the clinic including, cataract, retinal, glaucoma, corneal, uveitis, strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, paediatric, and oculoplastics.
Assisting with minor operations in clinic
Coordinating patient surgeries
High level thinking – we will expect you to grow your skill set over time and encourage clinical learning
Participate in monthly team teaching sessions

Hours

A regular-part time position for 0.4-0.5 FTE is available. (16-20 hours per week)

Skills and Qualifications:

High level computer literacy
Experience with electronic medical record system eg. Zedmed
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in orthoptics and ophthalmic assessment.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the provision of orthoptic services.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Demonstrated communication skills
