Casual Orthoptist

Visionary Eye Specialists is a busy multidisciplinary ophthalmic practice consisting of 6 Ophthalmologists and a highly skilled team of Orthoptists, situated in the south of Sydney. We service all areas of general ophthalmology with sub-specialties in Medical Retina, Glaucoma, Paediatrics, Adult Strabismus, Cornea and Oculoplastics.

We are seeking a casual orthoptist to join our friendly clinical team to work at both our Hurstville and Miranda locations. At this stage we will be looking at approximately 1-2 days a week.  The applicant must be a team player with excellent communication skills and possess the ability to be proactive and to work autonomously in a busy environment.

The successful applicant must possess strong attention to detail, have computer literacy and excellent time management. Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism are key in being successful in this role.

The role includes:

·         Pre-assessing patients and counselling

·         Refraction

·         Paediatric and strabismus assessments

·         Humphrey Visual Fields

·         Biometry – IOL Master 700

·         Topography – Pentacam & OPD

·         Fundus photography

·         OCT imaging –Heidelberg

·         Intravitreal injection/ minor procedure assisting

·         Administrative duties including but not limited to ordering of medical supplies, clinical audits, accreditation and organising theatre lists and liaising with the doctors and Day Surgery.

Completion of a Master/Bachelor of Orthoptics or equivalent and eligibility for registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board is required.
