Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Orthoptist or Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at Northern Beaches Cataract Retina and Glaucoma.

Responsibilities:

– Conduct comprehensive orthoptic assessments, including visual acuity, ocular motility, and binocular vision tests.

– Perform diagnostic tests such as slit-lamp examinations, fundus photography, and visual field testing.

– Assist in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with various eye conditions, including cataracts, retinal disorders, and glaucoma.

– Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.

– Provide patient education on eye health, treatment options, and the proper use of prescribed medications or devices.

– Monitor and record patient progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records.

– Stay current with advancements in orthoptic techniques and technologies through continued professional development and training.

– Assist in the training and supervision of orthoptic students and other staff members.

 

Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in Orthoptics or a related field.

– Current registration and certification as an Orthoptist.

– Strong knowledge of ophthalmic conditions and treatment modalities.

– Proficiency in conducting a wide range of orthoptic assessments and diagnostic tests.

– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex medical information to patients and colleagues.

– Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
