SMS Healthcare is looking for a Full Time Orthoptist to join our clinical team at Southern Ophthalmology.

The successful candidate will enjoy a challenge and is passionate about providing excellent patient care.  You will be flexible and work as part of a team and will work closely with the Practice Manager and Ophthalmologists to ensure a cohesive and efficient environment for our patients and their families. The ability to work in a fast paced environment is imperative.

Main location of work will be our clinic in Kogarah however, the successful candidate is willing to provide support to our Miranda clinic as required.

• Master of Orthoptic or equivalent

Key tasks:

• General patient assessment including: history taking, IOP measurements, subjective refraction
• Corneal Topography – Pentacam
• Visual Field Testing
• Cirrus OCT
• Retinal photography and fluorescein angiography
• Biometry: IOL- Master
• Applanation tonometry
• Paediatric vision assessment
• IOL calculations
• Orthoptic workups / Squint Assessment
• Biometry – IOL Master and Applanation
• Assisting with intravitreal injections
• Specular Microscopy
• Sterilisation of instruments
• Assisting with the general running of the clinic
• Assist in minor ops
• Keeping up to date with new techniques and developments
• Effectively communicate with patients about diagnosis and required treatments
• Post-op follow up care with patients as directed by Management
