To all the Orthoptists / Optometrists / Ophthalmic Assistants  Australia wide who have registered their availability with us via : “Register your days off! for FREE” & who are then a part of the ‘Urgent / Random Request service’  a reminder to please do the following every time you are accepted to cover any random day or days .

• Ensure that you keep a record on your CV of all the ‘one-off ‘ days which you have covered.
• We highly recommend to structure it in the following way
• Create a section on your CV: under ‘work experience’ with the following heading  – please see the below example/s  with how to then list , these ‘one off’ days, with the date / hours worked / practice name / role or tests performed on that day / & the amount of notice given to work that position.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Locum/ one-off days worked via the Find an Orthoptist / Find an Optometrist  ‘Urgent / Random Request service’

(1)  On  14/04/22  (8am – 4pm) – Sydney Eye Surgeons –  general workup / HVF/ OCT

[notified: the night before to cover]

(2) On 22/05/22  (9am – 12.30pm) – Penrith Ophthalmology :  VA, pressure, dilate, assisting with intravitreal injections / some subjective refractions.

[notified : the same day at 7am in the morning to cover from 9am]

(3)  On 22/01/23,  28/01/23 – (8am – 4pm)  Sutherland Eye Surgeons   –  general workup / HVF / OCT

[notified: 4 days prior to cover]

(4) (12/03/23)  to  (19/03/23) –  (8am – 4pm) Freedom Eye Surgery  – mostly subjective refractions  &  some basic / routine pretesting.

[notified: 1 week prior to cover]

(5)  18/12/23 –  (8.30am – 4.30pm)  Central Sydney Eye Surgeons  – HVFs & OCTs only

[notified: one day prior to cover]

• Highly admired by all types of employers.
• Ensure that every time you cover , even if it’s just a single day or even a half day – that you do document this on your CV !
