Orthoptist – Recent graduate or Experienced

Job Title: Orthoptist

Job Type: Part Time (3 days per week)

Location: Melbourne Eye Surgeons, Malvern VIC

We are seeking an enthusiastic part-time orthoptist to join our team at a busy small practice in Malvern to work alongside our 2 Ophthalmologists. The desired hours and days are 9.00am – 5.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Clinic Specialties include:

·         Cataract assessment and treatment

·         Glaucoma Management

·         Medical Retina

·         Paediatrics and Strabismus

·         General Ophthalmology

Orthoptist responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         General ophthalmic  assessments including history taking, subjective refraction, vertometry, IOP(Icare) measurement

·         Ocular motility and binocular vision assessment of both children and adults

·         OCT (Spectralis)

·         Humphrey Visual Field Testing (HFA3)

·         Biometry (IOL Master 700)

·         Setting up and assisting with minor surgical procedures including intravitreal injections

·         Some administration duties including surgical preparation and drafting correspondence

·         Answering patient enquiries

Position requirements:

·         An Orthoptics qualification

·         Professional Indemnity Insurance

·         Registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board (AOB)

·         Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)

·         Effective time management, priority management and problem solving skills

·         Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal skills

·         Experience in ocular motility and paediatric vision assessment will be highly regarded; however an interest and willingness to learn these skills will certainly be taken into consideration as we are happy to teach!

Remuneration will be considered based on experience and skills.
