Unique Position – Locum Orthoptist – Excellent Hourly Rate

We are a busy ophthalmology practice in the Pacific Square Centre, Maroubra Junction, seeking an articulate and personable Locum Orthoptist, initially we require you to join us as a casual locum to cover holiday leave in January February and possibly March April 2025.

At the Eastern Eye Centre, we offer a comprehensive eye care service with a smile. Our focus is providing top quality clinical service while maintaining a friendly and caring environment. As one of a team of four orthoptists, you will play a pivotal role in supporting seven ophthalmologists and meeting the clinical expectations of our patients.

Our practice offers a wide range of sub speciality services including Cataract Surgery, Oculoplastic, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus, Squint Surgery, Diabetic Eye Disease, Medical Retina, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, & General Ophthalmology.

Although the role is a casual locum position, the diversity and nature of our practice offers a real opportunity to expand your clinical skills as an orthoptist.

The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of ophthalmic services provided to adults and children. Duties include screening of vision, IOP measurements, visual fields, OCT, angiography, immersion/contact A-Scans, IOL Master, refractions, assisting with intravitreal injections and minor surgery and post-operative care.
You will need to be well presented and highly motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of our team.

You will be rewarded with an excellent hourly casual rate, based on your experience.

Applicants will need to have completed B. App. Sc (orthoptics)/Master of Orthoptics.
